Today, Good Times Ahead have released ‘Good Times Bad Times at Hard Summer’ on HARD Recs. The project is the duo’s unique take on the mixtape concept, unfolding across 11 original tracks that are primarily unreleased collaborations between themselves and other top tier producers who’ve taken part in the brand’s illustrious history. It celebrates HARD’s curatorial excellence over the years while highlighting its growing label offshoot’s cutting edge ethos.

HARD’s relationship with Good Times Ahead began at the beginning of their career, when the entity became one of the first to give the fledgling act the spotlight. They’ve since become a veritable legacy act, playing numerous of the brand’s events while climbing to the top of dance music’s ranks. The groundbreaking ‘Good Times Bad Times at Hard Summer’ commemorates that long-standing relationship.

‘Good Times Bad Times at Hard Summer’ brims with starpower, with the likes of Diplo, Flosstradamus, Black Caviar, Twogangs, and Beauty Brain joining the genre-bending stalwarts in the studio for this innovative undertaking. A wide range of styles, from house, to moombahton, to trap are all represented in this longplayer. This proves Good Times Ahead’s versatility when it comes to songwriting, as well as their unrelenting commitment toward evolving artistically.

Good Times Ahead offer two standalone originals in the record as well; “One Too Many” is a dark, heads-down number set at a fast tempo, while “Heaven” closes out ‘Good Times Bad Times at Hard Summer’. They also invited 2¢ along for the ride, whose “DMTea” is a psychedelic low-end journey. Inspired by the legendary and elusive outfit Dog Blood, Good Times Ahead round out the selection with a freshly minted re-work of “4 Mind.”

The mixtape follows Good Times Ahead’s special edition HARD Summer set, an entirely original two-hour journey through their vast discography.The robust performance featured an array of ‘Good Times Bad Times at Hard Summer’ track debuts alongside some of the outfit’s most prized classics. It enjoyed plenty of cameos from past and present collaborators as well, including Dillon Francis, Wuki, 4B, Black Caviar, What So Not, and Flosstradamus.

‘Good Times Bad Times at Hard Summer’ and Good Times Ahead’s HARD Summer set coincide with the launch of their very own label, Good Times / Bad Times Records, which they’ve opened through Insomniac Music Group. The label will serve as a platform that gives Good Times Ahead full creative control over their own direction while additionally allowing them to showcase and cultivate the careers of their favorite up-and-coming talents. Expect the duo to continue flourishing as they helm their own imprint and expand their reach far beyond the confines of electronic music.
